The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System approved mandating health insurance for students enrolled in the U.T. System health components. The Board of Regents has authorized the assessment of a health insurance fee (currently at an annual rate of $1,204.00) to each student who cannot provide evidence of continuing coverage under another approved plan. Students with coverage outside of the plan must provide Auxiliary Enterprises the following information (or you can access a verification form by clicking Insurance Verification Information Needed) needed to waive the insurance fee by the 12th class day of the fall or spring semesters and by the 4th class day of the summer semester by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org or fax 713-500-8409.
In addition, the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System requires all international students holding non-immigrant visas and living in the United States to have coverage for repatriation and medical evacuation while enrolled at component institutions of The University of Texas. The required health insurance fee assessed by the University includes coverage for repatriation and medical evacuation. International students with coverage outside of the plan can contact Auxiliary Enterprises at 713/500-8400 or provide the information indicated above needed to waive the insurance fee by email: email@example.com and, if needed, purchase coverage for repatriation and medical evacuation. Please realize that the majority of outside insurance carriers do not provide repatriation and medical evacuation.
